Who is Baz?

I am a queer artist living Seattle, WA. I moved here in 2012 but have really only started building my community in the last two years. While I'm newer to photography, I've been making art for myself and others for coming up on 20 years. Historically, I've been more of a painter, but have never found a creative medium I didn't have love for; sculpture, woodworking, poetry, ceramics, furniture diy, sewing and embroidery, perfume blending, baking, modeling...the list goes on.

I started my photographic journey after a photographer I was seeing asked me to model for them for their film portfolio. I have always had my own body issues but love getting out of my comfort zone. After seeing myself through someone else's eyes, I started taking pictures of myself and working on my own self love journey.

Eventually, I wanted to be behind the camera and started taking pictures of my partners and friends. After the 2024 election, I wanted to see if I could use my art and communication skills to work on strengthening community, help people feel better about themselves, and let that vulnerability facilitate a growth similar to what I had experienced.

I reached out and made a new friend open to letting me see what we could do. After creating art we were both extremely happy with, we talked at length about how I should proceed.

The journey has helped me connect with many people now dear to me, start building a community of people all with similar goals, and reigniting my own creative desires.
